  1. Study Hacks to ease your Learning

o   Study Like you are teaching someone - Popularly known as the Protégé Effect, Students are always advised to learn the material like they are going to teach others or pretend like they are teaching someone. This technique helps students learn the information better as teaching or expecting to teach leads to increased metacognitive processing, which makes students more actively aware of their learning process.

o   Use Online lectures to understand and revise the concepts – Watching Online lectures from YouTube or any other educational apps is a great way to revise the concepts as visual information is easily grabbed by the mind and gives the students a relaxing and fun way of learning the topics.

o   Speak out loud while reading – A study from the University of Waterloo has proved the fact that reading words aloud makes them easier to remember compared to reading them silently. This is because verbally pronouncing a word creates a memorable experience — a phenomenon the researchers call the “production effect”. While learning for exams or important tests students are advised to read the information loud and clear for better results.

o   Promise yourself a reward – The stress of upcoming exams and test can make students feel uninspired or unmotivated at times. Adding small incentives in a form of rewards can be a great way to get you going. Biologically, rewards increase dopamine levels in your brain which helps in getting you more productive.

o   Try Mnemonic Technique - Mnemonic Technique can be extremely useful while memorizing lengthy spellings or difficult paragraphs and phrases. Mnemonic techniques can include songs, poems, rhymes, outlines, images and acronyms. Mnemonics give meaning to something ordinary to make it more memorable when you try to recall it. This technique is useful for storing information in both your short- and long-term memory.

o   Smooth Biro Pen – Unlike fountain or gel pens, ballpoint pens are proven to be more long-lasting and comfortable as they can write in any direction with buttery smoothness. Ballpoints rarely get clogged or dried up as fountain pens can, also the oil-based ink ballpoint use won’t typically rinse away if you spill water on it. Ballpoints can also write directly on hard surfaces, which might damage or break the nib of a fountain pen.

o   Coffee - Packed with high levels of antioxidants and mind-buzzing nutrients, there is a range of benefits that come with coffee. Caffeine can help to improve alertness and enhance short-term capabilities so that you can easily learn and absorb new information. This can be helpful during a long study session, allowing you to retain more detail over a short period.

o   Notepad – Making notes of key ideas helps you to stay active during revisions and lectures. Also, a study shows that you are more likely to remember or achieve something when you write it down. Therefore, mostly it is advised for students to keep a small notepad and a pen with them always.

o   Laptop – With evolving times, technology can be a great help. As we discussed above the advantages of online videos while studying, a laptop can be a great tool. Its light weight gives you the freedom to study at any place of your choice.

o   Highlighters – The purpose of highlighting is to draw attention to important information in a text. Making too many notes at a time can be confusing. Using some neon colours eases your efforts of finding keywords and main ideas with some added fun in plain black letters.

o   Good Music – Good music can relax your mind, increase your concentration and improves your focus. Soft instrumental tunes or natural sounds are recommended while studying to avoid distraction. Often students can also practise meditation while hearing music to boost their confidence.

o   Sugar (Brain food) – Harvard medical college has proven that sugar is the primary source of energy for the cells of our body. The brain being the neuron-rich organ demands one-half of all the sugar energy of our body. It is also said the brain is dependent on sugar as its main fuel.
