Faiz al-Mawaid al-Burhaniyah – Importance and Benefits
Prophet Mohammed states that ‘There is no deed greater than feeding the hungry.’
These words continue to resonate in the hearts of the members of the Dawoodi Bohra community to this day. Food offers more than mere nutritional value and good health. Islam teaches that food is a divine blessing. keeping the ethics of Islam in mind.
Faiz al-Mawaid al-Burhaniyah (FMB) was established by the 52nd Dai al-Mutlaq Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin. Huzurala had a deep concern that no single mumin should go to bed hungry, and this is one of the reasons for starting this unique service, Faiz al Mawaid al Burhaniyah. Started in August 2011, this new effort presently supports approximately 135,000 community homes in 869 cities across the world.
From its start ten years ago, Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin's son and successor, the 53rd and current Dai al-Mutlaq Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin, has been instrumental in every element of its execution. FMB has been able to realize its goals thanks to his direction and advice, including guaranteeing food security with a focus on delivering healthy and nutritious meals, establishing communal relationships, empowering women, preventing food waste, and facilitating spiritual as well as material enrichment. Aside from permanent personnel, nearly 7,000 Bohra volunteers work tirelessly to keep the community kitchens functioning and fresh.
Every year, FMB services are paused for 15 days, from Shaban 1 to 15. This break is provided to monitor the annual maintenance of the kitchens as well as provide a free opportunity for its personnel and volunteers to enjoy the recess and go on holiday. FMB is concerned not just with delivering healthy meals to its community, but also with the well-being of its employees.
When it first started, many wondered if it was actually possible to make everyone's food together on a daily basis. But now, practically everywhere where mumineens live, this service has been established.
Many people from other communities also appreciated this move. One of the print media wrote:
“It is rare to find a common kitchen of two brothers of a family but Dawoodi Bohras are having a common kitchen for the whole community!”. Another one gave the name “Community Kitchen” to this service.
Thanks, is an extremely small word for this Azeem Neymat provided by our Bawa Shafeeq. FMB has provided countless benefits to the community as a whole and to its members. Some of these are:
1. Bohra Women Empowerment:
Traditionally, it has been the women's responsibility to prepare meals for the entire family. It is a daily practice that requires time and effort. FMB, on the other hand, has succeeded in freeing up much of this time for homemakers by assuring at least one nutritious cooked meal for the entire household every day, allowing them to explore other options to work in the family enterprises, earn a living, or follow other interests.
Also, an important help for Bohra women in earning their lively hoods is Roti. Roti is an essential element of the Dawoodi Bohra culinary tradition, and roti-making is thus one of the most significant activities in the FMB community kitchen. Handcrafted roti is not only a daily necessity but also a statement of love and dedication. Encouraging community women to continue the tradition of cooking rotis by hand as a way of remaining active, maintaining cultural heritage, and creating employment. FMB kitchens reach out to community women who are eager to contribute by making rotis for daily meals.
2. Halal Food Anywhere:
Mumineen residing in foreign countries at times fail to distinguish the halaal and haram foods, they also find it extremely difficult to get halaal food easily, but due to Faiz al Mawaid al Burhaniyah, every mumin is now getting not only halaal but hygienic food.
It is frequently difficult to acquire Halal food, and it is even more difficult to get healthy meals during essential situations such as hospitals, travel, students relocating to other cities, work, and emergencies. In these situations, FMB is a valuable neymat for the mumineen. FMB food is delivered with great care and love for our Bohra brothers and sisters.
3. Nutrition & Diet:
It can be difficult to afford wholesome meals on a daily basis. Individuals who are battling for two meals a day find it incredibly difficult to afford nutritious food on a daily basis. Taking these factors into concern the FMB volunteer team includes specialists such as doctors, dieticians, nutritionists, and chefs who provide guidance in developing daily menus for the full year. Regional and seasonal dishes are featured on these menus. The goal is for the meals to contain all of the necessary components of a balanced diet while meeting the calorie and nutritional requirements. Fresh organic produce from reputable local merchants is also prioritised. These entire efforts are planned and executed with the purpose of providing mumineen with halal, hygienic, flavourful, nutritious, fresh and home-cooked meals.
4. Affordable to financially weak:
FMB was founded with the express goal of ensuring that no member of the Dawoodi Bohra community anywhere in the world goes to bed hungry. It is a wonderful aid to people who are trying to make ends meet. Faiz al-Mawaid al-Burhaniyah is totally supported by community members' voluntary contributions. As a result, it lessens the financial strain on those who are struggling. FMB neymat is presented to each door with Dua Mubarak and the love of our spiritual father, our Aqa Maula.
Today each and every mumin takes the barakat of Faiz al Mawaid al Burhaniyah. With lots and lots of Shukar for this neymat. I pray to Allah to grant our spiritual father, Maula Syedna Aaliqadr Mufaddal Saifuddin, a long and healthy life. Ameen!
